Paws for Seniors Program
​A senior friend of ours once said her house just doesn't breathe without a dog. While she didn't have the right situation (or energy) for a young dog, she asked if she might help foster one of our senior pups. Ironically, right about the same time, we had an acquaintance needing to rehome their 13 year old chihuahua. We introduced the two and the breath returned to the home. Thus began Paws for Seniors. Our goal is to match senior dogs with senior citizens for long or short term fostering opportunities. A shelter is no place for a senior dog, and they are often overlooked. A retired senior can provide the time and love that these dogs so deserve in their golden years. And a retiree reaps the incomparable companionship that these pups can provide. What could be better for both pup and person?! We decided on the name Paws for Seniors as a reminder to pause for those that have had full lives and recognize that they have so much more to offer. Having the support of friends or family is helpful, but Hair of the Dog will also provide support and supplies as needed. All you need to do is provide the love and care.
